By Road

The Lower Zambezi is accessible through the border town of Chirundu, situated 143 kilometres south of Lusaka. This journey takes about two and a half hours and involves a meander through the Zambezi escarpment area. From there, the Chiawa Road heads east over the Kafue Bridge and into the Chiawa Game Management Area and then into the Lower Zambezi National Park.

By Air

International travellers can reach Zambia via Lusaka or Livingstone, with daily flights from Johannesburg. Lusaka is served by major airlines and connects to the Lower Zambezi via daily flights to Royal and Jeki airstrips. Direct flights also link Royal/Jeki with Mfuwe (South Luangwa). From Livingstone, charters to Kulefu take about 2 hours, or connect via Lusaka with.
